Martin Smith, MBBS, FRCA, FFICM, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, University College London Hospitals, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in appreciation of a career devoted to research and teaching of the science and practice of neuroanaesthesia, neurocritical care and outstanding service to the Neuroanaesthesia and Critical Care Society (NACCS).

The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) announced the Fall 2020 Grant Recipients. In this cycle, the FAER Board of Directors voted to award five Mentored Research Training Grants (MRTG) for a total of $1.25 million in funding. Kathryn R. Rosenblatt, MD, MHS, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland, USA is one of the five awardees who received the grant comprised of $250,000 in funding over a two-year period for her project titled “Defining Cerebral Autoregulation-Guided Therapeutic Targets in Sepsis.”
Lakshmi N. Kurnutala, MD, MSc, Associate Professor and Director of Neuroanesthesiology, Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, Mississippi, USA was awarded the Woods Library Museum (WLM) Fellowship for the year 2020-2021 for his project titled “Maurice S. Albin, MD, MSc – Role in the Development of Neuroanesthesiology as a Subspecialty.”
Arun George, MD of Allegheny Health Network’s Anesthesiology Residency Program, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA has been nominated by colleagues and selected by a committee of Pennsylvania Medical Society member physicians as ‘Pennsylvania Medical Society Top Physicians Under 40’.
Deborah J. Culley, MD has been appointed as the Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania for the Health System, Pennsylvania, USA, following the recommendation of a national search committee. Dr. Culley, a neuroanesthesiologist and Past President of SNACC, is currently an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and the Executive Vice Chair for the Department of Anesthesiology Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
