SNACC's 46th Annual Meeting is a Huge Success!
Fenghua Li, MD
The 46th SNACC Annual Meeting in San Francisco was a true success. The program was wonderful and attendees were very engaged. Besides learning and refreshing knowledge, I truly enjoyed spending time with all of my friends (some new and some old). I am looking forward to next year’s fantastic meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.
The SNACC Newsletter held its first editorial team meeting on October 11 during SNACC’s Annual Meeting. It’s the first time I met all assistant and translation editors. Their enthusiasm and dedication to the newsletter were tremendous. I am so honored to have the opportunity to work with them. The meeting was well received and we had productive discussions that led to ideas for improving our newsletter. The SNACC Newsletter continues to advance its global footprint in the coming year. Latin American anesthesia societies were contacted to have translated newsletter articles linked to their websites. Japanese translation of newsletter articles is being considered too. The Japanese Society of Neuroanesthesia and Critical Care (JSNCC) is very supportive of this new initiative.
The Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology (JNA) had undergone lots of exciting changes last year. “Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology Year-In-Review” is a must-read article by Dr. Martin Smith, the JNA Editor-in-Chief. Dr. Smith detailed those changes in his review. You will also be amazed by Dr. Thomas F. Floyd’s cutting-edge research on measuring spinal cord blood flow. His article, “Spinal Cord Fiber Optic Monitoring with Diffuse Optics” is featured in this issue of the newsletter. MRI guided laser ablation therapy is an innovative and minimally invasive treatment option emerging in neurosurgery. I was fortunate to have a world-renowned neurosurgeon in this field, Dr. Zulma Tovar-Spinoza from SUNY Upstate Medical University, write an educational article “Minimally Invasive Options in Neurosurgery: MRI Guided Laser Ablation Therapy” for us. You can find her article highlighted in the Education Corner tab.
My heartiest congratulations to Dr. George Mashour, our Past President of SNACC and a renowned neuroanesthesiologist, for being elected to the National Academy of Medicine, one of the highest honors in the field of health and medicine.
