The Society of Neurological Anesthesiology and Critical Care, in its efforts to encourage anesthesiology residents and fellows to become more involved in the Society, is pleased to announce that this year again it is making available the SNACC John D Mitchenfelder a New Investigator Award. The award is presented annually to the resident or fellow whose research exemplifies the Society’s mission to advance the science of neurosurgical anesthesia and care of the critically ill neurosurgical patient. The recipient of the New Investigator Award will be asked to make an oral presentation of their work at the SNACC Annual Meeting on October 17, 2008, in Orlando, Florida, one day prior to the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. The award recipient will receive roundtrip coach airfare, complimentary meeting registration, a $1,000 award and a plaque to mark the occasion of this honor.

SNACC Members are encouraged to have their residents and fellows apply for this prestigious honor. To apply for the New Investigator Awards residents and fellows must have already submitted an abstract for presentation at the SNACC 2008 Annual Meeting. Residents and fellows, who wish to have their work considered for the 2008 New Investigator Award, are now asked to forward a manuscript of their research to the SNACC office. The manuscript should be submitted along with a diskette of the material.
